EQUINE AWARDS NI 2023 ARE LOOKING FOR MINI, MIDI & JUNIOR RISING STARS!!

Equestrian Centres across Northern Ireland are being invited to run competitions within their Centre to send their top two riders in each section to a Grand Final to be held at Gransha Equestrian Centre on 16th September 2023.

EQUINE AWARDS NI 2023 ARE LOOKING FOR MINI, MIDI & JUNIOR RISING STARS!!

The winners from each section will be presented with the “Rising Star”Awards at the Equine Awards NI, being held at the Titanic Centre on 7th October 2023.

The qualifying competitions can be run at any time within your own Centre, with qualified rider’s details submitted to Adrienne Stuart by 4th September 2023. The Rising Star Awards are open to Mini riders, 5 – 8 years old on 1/1/23 Assisted. 5 – 8 years old on 1/1/23 Unassisted. Midi Riders, 9 – 12 Years old on 1/1/23 and Junior riders, 16 and under 1/1/23, in the disciplines of show jumping and dressage.

COMPETITION 1 – MINI SHOW JUMPING RISING STAR

(There is no assisted/lead rein section in the show jumping)

  • Riders will be asked to jump a course of 8 show jumps not exceeding 50cm.
  • Each jump carries 10 points, so a clear round scores 100 points.
  • A deduction of 4 penalties for a knock down, 4 penalties for the first refusal, 8 penalties for the second refusal and Elimination for the third refusal. Fall of horse or rider also causes Elimination.
  • An Equitation Mark for each round is also given. Mark 1. Style and ability out of 20. Mark 2. Accuracy out of 20. Mark 3. Rhythm and Balance out of 20. Mark 4. Harmony out of 20 and Mark 5 Use of the Arena out of 20.
  • When scores are added, the highest scoring rider wins. If there is equality of marks, the jumping mark is used to decide, if they are equal then go to the equitation mark, if both are equal, a jump off against the clock will decide the winner.
    For lower placings the highest jumping score will be highest placed.

COMPETITION 2 – MIDI SHOW JUMPING RISING STAR

  • Riders will be asked to jump a course of 8 show jumps not exceeding 70cm.
  • Each jump carries 10 points, so a clear round scores 100 points.

COMPETITION 4 – MINI DRESSAGE RISING STAR (Assisted)

  • Riders to perform Dressage Ireland Introductory Test B (2017)
  • The emphasis for scoring will be placed on rider ability and highest scoring rider put forward to the Final.
  • Rider to be 5 – 8 years old years on 1/1/23

COMPETITION 5 – MINI DRESSAGE RISING STAR

  •  Riders to perform Dressage Ireland Introductory Test B (2017)
  • The emphasis for scoring will be placed on rider ability and highest scoring rider put forward to the Final.
  • Rider to be 5 – 8 years old on 1/1/23

COMPETITION 6 – MIDI DRESSAGE RISING STAR

  •  Riders to perform Dressage Ireland Introductory Test C (2017)
  • The emphasis for scoring will be placed on rider ability and highest scoring rider put forward to the Final.
  • Rider to be 9 – 12 years old on 1/1/23.

COMPETITION 7 – JUNIOR DRESSAGE RISING STAR

  •  Riders to perform Dressage Ireland Preliminary Test 6 (2012)
  • The emphasis for scoring will be placed on rider ability and highest scoring rider put forward to the Final.
  • Rider to be aged 16 years and under on 1/1/23.

SHOWJUMPING FINALS

The finals will be held at Gransha Equestrian Centre on 16th September 2023. The running order for the Finals will be published on the Gransha Equestrian Centre website at www.granshaequestriancentre.com.

Courses for all classes will consist of 10 show jumps, designed by Balmoral Show course designer and proprietor of Gransha, Adrienne Stuart.

The final competition will follow the same format as the qualifiers. The first 5 placed riders will receive rosettes on the day and the winner will be presented with their respective Rising Star Award at the Equine Awards NI on7th October 2023.

DRESSAGE FINALS

The finals will be held at Gransha Equestrian Centre on 16th September 2023. The running order for the Finals will be published on the Gransha Equestrian Centre website at www.granshaequestriancentre.com and our mobile app.

Riders will perform the same test in the Final as they rode in the qualifiers.

Riders will be judged with a weighted score, again with the emphasis being on rider ability. The first 5 placed riders will receive rosettes on the day and the winner will be presented with their respective Rising Star Award at the Equine Awards NI 7th October 2023.

Equine Award NI will give two tickets to the gala evening to each winner, one for the winner and one for an accompanying adult.
