SUNDAY NIGHT IS PARTY NIGHT AT THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW 2022

The London International Horse Show, taking place at the ExCeL London from 15–19 December 2022, is excited to announce the reintroduction of an all-time favourite class.

SUNDAY NIGHT IS PARTY NIGHT AT THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW 2022

Back by popular demand, the fancy dress competition makes a welcome return to the London International Horse Show but with a modern makeover. Taking place on the evening of Sunday 18 December, the Show will culminate with the traditional but revitalised Fancy Dress Pairs Relay, and visitors, show workers and competitors alike will all have the opportunity to get involved, in what will be, the horse world’s Christmas party of the year.

This evening class promises to be highly entertaining and will be centred on fun and festive celebration. The competition will see eight pairs of riders from all areas of the equestrian community compete against each other wearing outrageous fancy dress costumes and prizes will be awarded to the most entertaining and theatrical creations.

A celebrity compere will host the whole evening and will be supported by ‘The Judges’ who will question the pairs and mark them on their riding skills and costume designs.  The audience will then have an opportunity to participate and join in with the judging to decide the winning pair.

Geoff Billington, Former Team GB Show Jumper and Olympia fancy-dress champion said: “The fancy dress at Olympia was always great fun, there were some really hilarious moments, and it was always a crowd pleaser. I’m really looking forward to seeing it return this year!”

Furthermore, London International Horse Show guests attending on Sunday 18 December are encouraged to come to the Show in fancy dress, as ‘spotters’ will be on the lookout and ready to choose the ‘Best Dressed’ from the audience. Selected members of the audience will then be invited into the arena to present the prizes for the Fancy Dress Pairs Relay.

The whole evening will be rounded off with a festive After Party in the Champagne Taittinger Champagne Bar, where competitors will join in the fun and dance the night away, and anyone in that night’s audience wearing Fancy Dress will have free entry to the After Party.

Simon Brooks-Ward, Event Director said; “The Fancy Dress classes we had in the 90s were hugely popular so we thought we would bring them back, but with a twist.  This time we’re making the whole performance a Fancy Dress night out in London, we’re getting the audience involved, we’re bringing in celebrities and we’re going to round it off with a great party.  I’m really looking forward to what I know will be really great fun.”
