LOOKING AHEAD TO THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW WITH HARRY CHARLES
In 2021, a 22-year-old Harry Charles was crowned The London International Horse Show Leading Rider, having claimed both the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM Qualifier and the London Grand Prix.
Remarkably, the achievement came exactly 20 years after his father, Peter Charles, who won the FEI Jumping World CupTM Qualifier at the Show in 2001.
Charles’ form continued into 2022, during which he reached a career high world ranking of No. 11, won a team bronze medal at the FEI World Championships in Herning and finished fourth in his first ever Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM Final.
As all attention turns towards The London International Horse Show 2022, we caught up with Charles at his Heathcroft Farm Stables in Hampshire, to find out how his preparations are going for the 2022 Show, which returns to ExCeL London from 15 – 19 December.
Cited by Charles as his favourite show of the year, the world No. 1 Under-25 rider is looking forward to returning in 2022 to defend his titles. Charles said: “The London International Horse Show means a lot, not just to me, but every international rider in Great Britain, being the sole five-star indoor show in the UK. It’s right before Christmas, so friends and family always come to watch and it’s such a historic Show with top level sport – it’s the Show we all look forward to all year.”
The Show has today released a short film as Charles looks ahead to the 2022 edition, reflecting on his incredible year and delving into his expectations for London in December.
