It will continue to take place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle and has received Royal patronage from the start with Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II attending every show including the last event in May 2022. The Show will feature top-class international equestrian sport in Jumping, Dressage, Driving and Endurance, alongside showing classes, traditional displays and spectacular entertainment across four days of action, from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 May 2023.

The CSI5* Show Jumping will welcome the return of the world’s best horse and rider combinations for three days of the highest level of international competition, culminating in the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday 14 May. 2022 saw seven of the world’s top 10 riders battle it out for this prestigious prize, with Gregory Wathelet, team bronze medallist from Tokyo 2020, taking the spoils. The Show will also host extremely competitive National and Young Rider classes, showcasing the future generation of top Show Jumping horses and riders.

The return of CDI4* Dressage to the private grounds of Windsor Castle means that Royal Windsor Horse Show 2023 will once again feature some of the world’s best Dressage combinations. The CDI4* Dressage, which was last held at the Show in 2019, will make for key competition ahead of selection for the European Dressage Championships later in the summer. The Grand Prix will take place behind closed doors on Wednesday 10 May, with the Freestyle to Music set to be in front of a packed audience on the afternoon of Thursday 11 May.

The CAIO4* International Driving Grand Prix, one of the most prominent driving events in the UK, returns for another adrenaline-fuelled competition. A true test of horsemanship, the event includes three stages: Driven Dressage, the Marathon stage, and Cone Driving for the three competition categories: single horse, four-in-hand, and horse pairs.

Royal Windsor Endurance on Friday 12 May sees competitors taking to the picturesque tracks of Windsor Great Park in an ultimate test of stamina across a variety of terrains. International races are scheduled at CEI1*, CEIYJ1*, CEI2* and CEI3* level, over a range of distances, setting up a day of intense competition.

The Showing at Royal Windsor Horse Show is considered a highlight of the national Showing season, and 2023 will feature a selection of exciting new classes such as a range of Amateur Mountain & Moorland classes, from Leading Rein and First Ridden, to Small and Large Breeds, topped off with a new Amateur Mountain & Moorland Championship. Also new to the Show will be an Amateur Show Pony class, Amateur Show Hunter Pony, Amateur Intermediate and an Amateur Championship. In all, the 2023 Show will host over 130 Showing classes across the four days of action.

Alongside the world-class sporting action will be impressive performances from international military and equestrian displays, including The Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, the Musical Drive of The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, the Shetland Pony Grand National and the DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Show’ Shopping Village, with an array of fashion, lifestyle and equestrian boutiques, as well as a selection of delicious food outlets.

Show Director, Simon Brooks-Ward, said: “We’re really excited about the 2023 edition of Royal Windsor Horse Show. It’s very good to see the International Dressage returning to the programme, meaning that we have four of the equestrian disciplines represented at top class level at the Show.  The Showing Classes have grown from strength to strength and I am delighted to see the new additions this year.  All in all, the competition is set to be better than ever plus we’ve got some stunning displays lined up – there really is something for everyone.”
