Speaking about her performance, Upton shared, "He was amazing. Just being here is a dream come true – I wouldn't have believed I'd be here seven months ago."

Boyd Martin, the early leader, now trails slightly with a score of 29.0. Martin expressed confidence in his mount, Tsetserleg TSF, remarking, "He looked like a champion. We’re definitely in with a chance, though the cross-country stage is daunting."

Tom Jackson, who rode Farndon to a score of 33.0, was upbeat about his starting position, stating, "Sometimes it's better to be the first out there. Badminton requires boldness, and Farndon has the advantage."

New Zealand’s Caroline Powell and CBI Aldo scored 35.6, with Powell feeling optimistic about the young horse's debut at this level: "It's a bit of a gamble with a nine-year-old, but he’s proving to be a determined competitor."

Tom Rowland and Dreamliner ended with a score of 34.9. Despite some challenges, Rowland remains focused on the upcoming events: "It’s not just a dressage competition; we’ve got to give our best on Saturday."

Veteran competitor Wills Oakden and Arklow Puissance, scoring 39.4, spoke about overcoming the dressage challenges, "It's about learning and improving every step of the way."

Pippa Funnell and Majas Hope, despite a disappointing 40.8, are veterans of the sport. "It's not the performance I hoped for, but we are seasoned and ready," said Funnell.

Felix Vogg brought Cartania, scoring 32.6, with high hopes: "She's proven herself suitable for Badminton, a very honest and genuine horse."

Among other notable performances, Zara Tindall and Class Affair managed a 37.2. Tindall noted the effort in keeping Class Affair composed, "He’s usually not fond of crowds, but we're aiming for a smooth run in the cross-country."

The event continues to showcase top international talent, with riders expressing both excitement and nerves about the challenges ahead, particularly the demanding cross-country stage. This year’s competition not only tests skill and endurance but also highlights the deep connection between riders and their horses.
