Valkenswaard United have a formidable lineup for 2022, in a bid to replicate their success in the 2021 season once more. Returning to the team, Marcus Ehning (DE), Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS), and U25 Gilles Thomas (BEL) will be hoping to build on their experience and continue their successful run from last year. 

Three exciting faces will be added to the mix, with legends John Whitaker (GBR) and Laura Kraut (USA) joining the team alongside talented German rider Maurice Tebbel (DE).

Marcus Ehning: Competing for Germany: From Südlohne: Age 47: Marcus is entering his 5th consecutive year riding for Valkenswaard United. As a pillar of the team, Marcus was part of the team finishing second Cascais, Chantilly and London 2019, bringing his experience of years competing at the top level of the sport. He joins a lineup of icons of show jumping on the team for 2020, including Edwina Tops-Alexander, John Whitaker and Laura Kraut. Valkenswaard United were crowned season champions in 2021 - can they hold on to the title in 2022?

Edwina Tops-Alexander: Competing for Australia: From Monaco: Age 47: Edwina was a newcomer to the Valkenswaard United team in 2021, but definitely not to the GCL team competition, as she competed with the Shanghai Swans in 2016, followed by a season with the Moscow Bears and two seasons with the St Tropez Pirates. Her 2019 season was marked with two-second place finishes in Paris and Valkenswaard, and in 2021, Valkenswaard United were crowned overall season champions. Edwina rides for Valkenswaard United once more in 2022.

Maurice Tebbel: Competing for Germany: Age 27: Despite his young age, Maurice already enters his fifth season in the GCL team competition. He started off riding for Valkenswaard United in 2018 then made a mid-season transfer to the Cannes Stars, playing a key role in the team's success in the GCL Super Cup at the Prague Playoffs in 2019. His transfer to the Miami Celtics team started off very well in Doha 2019, with a solid 4th place. In 2022, he starts the season for Valkenswaard United alongside a host of experienced names. Can he help United to another championship title in 2022?

John Whitaker: Competing for the United Kingdom: From Huddersfield: Age 66: Legend of show jumping John Whitaker joins reigning GCL season champions Valkenswaard United for the 2022 season, alongside several other top names of the sport. The team have recruited some exciting talent to help them in their bid for a second championship title, with John riding alongside Marcus Ehning, Edwina Tops Alexander, Maurice Tebbel, Laura Kraut and U25 rider Gilles Thomas.

Laura Kraut: Competing for the United States: From Wellington: Age 56: Laura has been a familiar face for Monaco Aces since 2019, and prior to that, the Rome Gladiators, finishing on the podium with both teams on multiple occasions. In 2022, she makes the move to Valkenswaard United, adding to an already illustrious list of names on the team. Can they clinch another season championship with this fresh injection of talent?

Giles Thomas: Competing for Belgium: Age 23: As a newcomer in the GCL team competition, Gilles made a very promising start with a double clear in his first appearance for Miami Celtics in Doha 2020. This year he re-joins the mighty Valkenswaard United team for a second season and will be one to watch alongside an impressive list of experienced names for the team.
