British Equestrian (BEF) is seeking an organisation to undertake research into environmental sustainability within horse sport.
The project is designed to address the negative environmental impact of the equestrian industry, and to inform and educate those involved about our responsibility to the planet.
“Across sport, there is a growing awareness of the collective responsibility to the environment,” said a spokesman for the federation.
“British Equestrian is acutely aware of both its environmental and social responsibilities and understands changes may be needed to ensure the equestrian way of life is as environmentally conscious as possible.”
The research will conclude with steps the BEF would need to take and provide support to the federation and its member bodies in developing plans to achieve effective change the long-term, with the intention of moving to net zero.
It is anticipated that the contract will start next month (October) and be completed by January 2023.
